Avery, Class of 2021 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Avery has been acting and singing since she was 7 years old, and loves being part of the drama program. She also loves being part of the group that performs the song “Shine”, and truly believes that the arts can help facilitate the healing process. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends, brothers, and dogs or watching Grey’s Anatomy. “The time for change is now”.

Isabela, Class of 2019 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, found a passion for the performing arts at the young age of two. She spent 13 years practicing many different genres of dance before she decided that theater was what she truly wanted to pursue. Isabela Barry has been involved in the Stoneman Douglas drama program from sophomore year to present and has taken on positions such as “Web Master” and choreographer. On her free time, she enjoys writing songs and playing her guitar. She loves the arts and feels that when given the chance, art can help heal all wounds.

Jessie, Class of 2019 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, is proud to be a part of Troupe 4879 and Douglas Drama. She has been involved with musical theatre since elementary school and plans to graduate from Florida State University in 2023. Jessie has always had a passion for singing. Being a part of Shine MSD has been an amazing and rewarding experience for Jessie. She thinks the arts is a great way to heal. She hopes to continue to spread light through music. 

Jared, Class of 2020 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. His world revolves around the arts and he can usually be found in the Drama room at school. He is super happy to be a part of Shine where he can experience the healing process through the arts and advocate for it, as well. He hopes that he can continue “being the voice for those who don’t have one."

Sawyer, Class of 2019 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and a proud member of Troupe 4879. She has been with the drama program for a year and loves everyone who is a part of it. Along with MSD drama she has been a part of various outside theater companies such as, Barclay Performing Arts and Broadway Bound. She has attended French Woods Festival Of The Performing arts since she was 8 years old. Theater has always been a strong constant in her life. Sawyer found her voice with music at a young age and has been deeply connected to it ever since. She uses music to help cope with her problems in the world; it is her outlet when she needs to express anything at all. While writing Shine with her close friend, Andrea Pena, Sawyer realized the full power that music has on people, and it’s healing properties. She hopes that with the ShineMSD Foundation, people from her community can find ways to express themselves through art and start the healing process. Sawyer wants to help her community come together to heal during these trying times. She also wants to make sure that the 17 angels we lost will be remembered forever. With the power of art- music, literature, dance- she hopes to start to accomplish these goals. Along with songwriting and singing Sawyer also enjoys reading books, spending time with friends, discussing Harry Potter, and spreading love and kindness to others. She truly believes that art has the power to transform us all. She wants everyone to remember to be kind to everyone they meet and treat others with love.

Alex, Class of 2020 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. He splits his time evenly between his two passions of drama and lacrosse. Alex enjoys being with his friends and having fun together. He is so happy to be a part of Shine and help others around the country and here in Parkland heal through the arts. As the arts are a very important aspect of his life. He is excited to continue to help make a positive impact on the world with his best friends by his side.

Ashley Class of 2019 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and is a proud member of Troupe 4879. Ashley has been involved with Douglas Drama since her Freshman year, and is also the Philanthropic Officer of Drama Club. She has been involved with Thespians, as well as numerous productions within her drama class at school. Ashley is so happy to be a part of the Shine production team, as she thinks it’s a great way to bring her community together, and any who are in need of a sense of love and light. She emphasizes the importance of remembering those who were lost on February 14th in every performance or video created through Shine. She hopes that the content created can bring a smile to everyone’s faces, and help everyone remember to “hug a little tighter”.

Andrea, Class of 2020 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. She is in her second year in the drama program and in her first year as Treasurer of Troupe 4879. Andrea is proud to be a part of Shine and looks forward to being able to give back to her community. She loves hanging out with her friends in drama who are practically her second family and loves expressing herself through art forms such as singing, acting and dancing. Andrea has been singing ever since she can remember and has been playing piano ever since kindergarten. She hopes that she can connect with others and bring people together through the powerful and universal language of art and music.
